How to Burn Belly
Fat
A Little
Common Sense Goes a Long
Way!
We’ve all been there at some point. That
bulging belly is just not disappearing on its own. To burn
belly fat, you’ve cut out the brownies for breakfast. You
even took up power walking. But those stubborn inches
around your waist seem to be hanging on for dear life.
It’s frustrating, it’s disgusting and it’s discouraging.
Whether you’ve just had a child, have been overweight all
of your life, or have accumulated extra pounds over the
years due to unhealthy life choices – you’ve had enough
and are ready for a change. Let’s face it. Those extra
pounds around the stomach are physically uncomfortable and
emotionally draining. They put you at risk for many health
complications and they negatively impact your body image
and self esteem. There is no positive that they bestow
upon your life…no silver lining to be seen. Well, I guess
they keep you warm in the winter. But what about the
summer? With bathing suit season just around the corner,
wouldn’t it be nice if this were the year that shopping
for a suit wasn’t an incredibly loathsome, yet necessary
task? Wouldn’t it be nice to actually like how your body
looks in a bathing suit? Come now…enough with the fits of
laughter. Wouldn’t you like to actually enjoy and be proud
of your body? Even show it off a
little?

First of
all, burning belly fat is not going to be as
easy as one…two…three. I’m sorry, it’s just not true.
There is just no miracle drug or crash diet that is going
to work. You didn’t become overweight over night and you
won’t lose the weight overnight either. I could try to
sell you an expensive gimmick promising to zap those
pounds. But use your common sense. If it was that simple
to lose weight, would obesity be a problem in our society
at all? Let me re-phrase that. It is simple enough to
lose weight. I’ll give you the secret shortly. However,
although it is simple in theory to lose weight, it’s
another thing entirely to do.
So, what’s
the secret to losing weight? How can you burn belly fat
and shed those unsightly pounds around your waistline?
You’re going to hate me for saying this, but here it
goes. You need to eat less and move more. Allow me to
duck while you heave that chocolate bar in my direction.
I don’t mean to insult your intelligence. Although it is
something that all of us know, it is something that many
of us fail to do. Sometimes the truth hurts. But on the
bright side, with a little common sense you can and will
reach your weight and fitness goals. There are three main
things that I suggest you do if you truly want to be one
of those success stories, rather than just the “before”
picture. The first has to do with a healthy diet, the
second with cardiovascular activity and the third with
specific belly burning exercises designed to strengthen
your abdominals and burn fat.
A Healthy
Diet: Chocolate is not a food
group
Many of us
have unhealthy eating patterns that have led us down the
path to self destruction. My own personal path begins
with a nice creamy slice of strawberry cheesecake. It is
important for each of us to step back and take a really
detailed look at why we eat, not just what we eat. Some
of us have already identified our issues and are
currently trying to overcome these weaknesses. Others
have no idea why we are overweight and are resentful of
the hand we’ve been dealt. No matter which category you
fit into, make healthy eating a part of your new
lifestyle. Remember, every time you eat for a reason
other than hunger (whether it be emotional, social, or
for comfort) you are sabotaging your success. And, in
doing so, you are inadvertently choosing to be
overweight.
FIVE Ways to
Blast That Belly With Healthy Eating
-
Some general points to remember: You
should eat three meals a day and two small
snacks OR eat five small meals a day if
possible. You need to cut off your eating
about 2-3 hours before bed. Also, always try
to drink plenty of water to aid with
digestion and keep you feeling
full.
-
Eat breakfast! Time and time again
people with weight issues skip breakfast. It
may seem contradictory, but to lose weight
DO
NOT skip any meal. Doing so will only
cause a dip in your blood sugar levels and
most likely you’ll end up bingeing later on
less healthy foods.
-
Eat a variety of foods every day,
including those from all food groups.
Remember, there is no chocolate, candy or
alcohol food group. If you’re eating foods on
a regular basis that don’t fit into one of
the four food groups, STOP!
Proper portions are also extremely important
and if you are confused about portions and
how much you should actually be eating, make
an appointment with your local dietician. If
you want to burn belly fat, I promise it will
be time well spent.
-
Plan your meals and your treats. If
at all possible (as a working mom, I know
that this is very difficult) you need to know
what you’ll be eating for the day, to be
successful with your weight loss. Include
lots of colorful fruits and veggies! And,
don’t deprive yourself of the foods you love,
just have them in moderation and plan for
them so that you don’t feel like you’re
cheating.
-
When you shop at the grocery store,
try to shop just in the perimeter – that’s
where all of the whole and healthy foods are
kept. Don’t go down the snack isle if it’s a
temptation. Some common sense coming your way
now…If you don’t buy it – you can’t eat it!
Save your money for that hot new
swimsuit.
