How to Burn
Fat
We are bombarded by the media these days
about how we need to look a certain way. So many people
surgically alter their bodies to conform to what they
think the ideal body shape is. There are many of us who
are not happy with our bodies, but we’re not willing to go
that far. What about those of us who simply want to be
healthier – and wouldn’t mind looking great at the same
time? How do you actually go about losing weight or
burning body fat – if you’re not willing to commit to
liposuction? There are lots of natural and healthy ways to
actually lose weight and trim fat from your body.
There are three main things that you most likely already
know - but for some reason are choosing not to acknowledge –
that are the keys to burning body fat. These three main things
include eating a healthy diet, regularly doing some form of
cardiovascular activity and finally, incorporating resistance
or weight training into your fitness routine.

A healthy diet implies that you are eating well portioned
meals and snacks from all four food groups. What you eat plays
a major role in the body fat that you burn. You need to
maintain some type of regular cardiovascular activity in your
schedule. And as well, you need to include weight training as a
part of your workouts. I’m sure that this is nothing that you
haven’t heard before. But exactly what should you be eating to
burn optimal fat? What type of cardio would be the best? And
how does weight/resistance training play a part in all of this?
What part does metabolism play?
Everyone basically knows what a healthy diet entails – lots
of fruits and vegetables of various colors. Whole grains are
better choices when compared to white (bread, rice etc.). Lean
protein such as chicken and fish are healthy choices, as is low
fat dairy. BUT, are there certain foods that are uber-healthy
and that will aid in the burning of fat? Actually, there are.
But first, you have to understand how burning fat really
happens.
There are about 3500 calories in a pound of fat. If you hope
to lose a pound of fat a week, then you will need to burn off
3500 more calories than you eat. This averages out to about 500
calories a day. You can either take fewer calories in – eat
less, or expend more energy – move more. It is a simple
equation that does work for everyone, no matter what your size
or shape. If you want to lose more than a pound a week –
obviously, you’ll have to increase the deficit by upping your
exercise or cutting back on calories.
There are many different foods that are healthy and are also
connected to burning body fat. You may want to consider
including some of them in your healthy eating plan. Chances are
that you’ve been eating at least some of these foods all along!
Fruits such as apples, peaches, pineapple, citrus fruits,
papayas, and cherries are packed with nutrients, disease
fighting agents and can help you to burn more fat. Green
veggies like celery, broccoli, artichokes, asparagus and beans,
as well carrots, mushrooms and tomatoes are all smart choices
when your aim is to burn fat. Lean proteins such as many types
of fish should also be a staple in your diet. Cottage cheese
and low fat yogurt are also great sources of lean protein and
dairy.
In addition to proper nutrition, adequate exercise is the
second component to the “fat burning” equation. Activity that
you can maintain for a lifetime would be the ultimate goal. If
you can find something that works for you and that you enjoy –
that’s a bonus. Regular physical activity will have to become a
part of your everyday routine if you hope to maintain your
healthy, trim body once you achieve it. Again, you need to
remember the 3500 calorie deficit that you need each week, if
you are to lose a pound of body fat. Depending on your fitness
level, the duration of an activity and your intensity level,
you could potentially lose the 500 calories a day in one hour –
if you choose the right activity or combination of
activities.
