Are your jeans just not fitting the way
that you’d like them to? Do you have extra “junk in the
trunk” or flab around your middle that you’d like to
banish from your body? Most of us are not currently living
in our ideal bodies and would love to learn some quick
ways to lose weight. There is always some kind of event on
the horizon that you’d like to lose the weight for…a
wedding, a reunion, a birthday or anniversary. So if
you’ve got an occasion coming up that you’d like to slim
down for and fast, I’ve got some sure fire ways to make
that happen! Let’s get started, we have no time to
waste!
Strip That Fat -
Fast Ways to Lose Weight
First of all, this is only going to work if you stick with
it until you’ve lost the five, ten of fifteen pounds that
you’re hoping to lose. You can’t expect to lose weight quickly
if you continue to eat junk and do no physical activity – the
two do not compute. So you’re just going to have to do your
best to buckle down and do it!
Losing weight isn’t rocket science. In order to drop the
pounds, whether quickly or slowly, you need to eat well and
exercise. It is up to you as to how much effort you want to
put into either. However, your success is directly related
to the food you eat and the working out that you do, or
fail to do. If you want to lose weight quickly, you need to
add a major cardio workout at least 5 times a week. You’ll
need to get your heart rate up and keep it up for at least
45 – 60 minutes per workout. You can not skip any workouts,
especially if you do not have much time to lose the weight
that you need to lose. It’s not going to be easy. You’re
going to be tired and cranky, no doubt. But, just keep
your focus. Try on that pair of jeans that used to make
your butt look awesome and enjoy the fact that you will be
back there – and that’s why you’re working so hard.
- Can’t Resist That Resistance
Resistance training in addition to the cardio that you
will be doing over the next little while will really help
to burn away extra fat. I think that one of the simplest
ways to do resistance training is with resistance bands
that you can buy from any fitness outlet. They are
inexpensive, versatile, portable and effective. Many bands
will come with suggested workouts. You can also find them
online and in most fitness magazines.
- No More Ice Cream For
Breakfast
The biggest part of losing weight does not necessarily
come from the working out that you do. What you eat plays a
much larger role in your success with weight loss. If you
want a quick way to lose weight, do NOT under any
circumstances skip meals (especially breakfast). This will
undoubtedly backfire on you. When you do eat next, you’ll
be ravenous and will most likely make convenient rather
than healthy choices. This will be the opposite of what
you’ve been trying to do. To lose weight quickly and
safely, you need to cut your portions down and eat healthy
foods.
- Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables because
they are packed with nutrients and have plenty of fiber
to keep your body well fueled
- Eat a small amount of protein with all meals and
snacks because this will help you feel full longer and
eat less overall. Some ideas to add quick protein are:
yogurt, cheese and whole grain crackers, chicken in a
salad, eggs for breakfast, cottage cheese with some
fresh fruit - there are lots of other great ideas out
there – these are just a few!
- I’m sure you’ve heard the buzz about whole grains
and how white flour, rice and pasta are evil. Whole
grains do aid in weight loss because of the nutrients
that they contain which help you feel full longer. Make
sure to check the label on the package. It must say
“whole grains” specifically. “Multi-grain”, for example
does not necessarily mean whole grain and may not be a
significantly better choice than white.
You need to set yourself up for success. Check out your
local grocery store. Chances are, they have tons of foods
that you enjoy in single serving packages.
- Have a look at the frozen entrees. There are many
new brands out there that are low in calories and in
fat and also taste wonderful. If the convenience of
microwaving a quick lunch will save you from the agony
of having to come up with something OR save you from
running out and getting take-out, then it’s worth
it.
- There are also “diet breads” that are closer to
what an actual serving is supposed to be. For instance,
did you know that the average bagel can contain up to 4
servings of grains? In one bagel!! Is it really worth
it? That one bagel is almost your grain allowance for
the entire day.
- In addition to frozen entrees and lower-cal breads,
there are also lots of smaller portioned treats such as
chocolate bars and cakes that are better choices and
will curb the cravings that you may have.
It may be a major sacrifice, but alcoholic drinks can
have anywhere from 80 – 300+ calories in ONE drink! How
often do you stop with just one beer? These calories are
completely devoid of any nutritional value for your body
and will add fat only. Trust me, it’s not worth it. Also,
often times our eating is not perfect when we have a drink
or two. We are more likely to make poor food choices and
overeat. It’s best if you are trying to lose weight,
especially if you’re trying to drop pounds fast, that you
cut out the alcohol all together until you get to your goal
weight.
Losing weight is never an easy task - especially if you’re
trying to lose it quickly. It can be done though, with
discipline and willpower on your part and an overall focus on
your main goal. Combining smaller portions of healthy foods,
regular cardio and resistance training, will allow you to reach
your goal. And don’t forget, weight loss is like anything else:
You get out of it what you put into it. So give it all you’ve
got because there is no better time than now! I hope you
